Kavan Choksi Lists Dubai’s Must-visit museums

Dubai is a city abounding in culture and history. If you are looking for a way to experience all that this amazing city offers, you should visit some of its museums. There are many different museums in Dubai, each with a unique theme and collection of artifacts. Freelance photographer Kavan Choksi, who has worked around the world and loves immersing himself in the culture of various locales, lists some of the must-visit museums in Dubai.

 

Etihad Museum

Etihad Museum is one of the newest museums in Dubai. For those interested in the history of the UAE, it is a terrific place to go, not just for its ultra-modern architectural style. The museum tells how the country was founded and how its people have lived ever since. In addition, it houses various exhibits that showcase the nation's formative years. Etihad Museum is located in Jumeirah, next to the Union house, where the UAE constitution was signed.

 

Naif Museum

Erected in 1939, the Naif Museum is one of the oldest museums in Dubai. Situated in the heart of the city's historic district, the museum was built in the old Naif Fort building. One wing of the building was converted into the Naif Museum in 1997. Its collections reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Emirate of Dubai and illustrate the history and evolution of Dubai's police force and secret service, which is among the best in the world, as Kavan Choksi notes.

 


Dubai Museum

Dubai Museum is the oldest museum in the city. The structure was built in the late 18th century. It was originally used as a fort to protect the city from foreign attacks or invasions. There are three watchtowers, ancient canons, and a stunning courtyard. It was transformed into a museum in 1971 to showcase Dubai's rich culture and history. Kavan Choksi notes that history lovers will love the Dubai Museum because it houses many archaeological findings that date back to more than 4,000 years ago.
